Whether it be a full Kombat Pack, something closer to the Aftermath update, or something completely fresh and different, NetherRealm Studios has been knocking it out of the park over the last year and a half with their Mortal Kombat 11 DLC.
but that does feel like a bit of a reach. It's worth bringing up here that on the 40th anniversary of John Lennon's death Ed Boon tweeted about the famous musician being born in 1940 and living for 40 years. That said, there are currently 34 members on the MK11 roster and an additional six would get us to a nice, clean 40. These bundles have included four-character batches in Mortal Kombat X and six-character batches here in MK11, and perhaps developers aren't wanting to commit to that many figures at a time. Similar to what we saw with Aftermath, it could be that NRS isn't planning to package any additional content with their traditional "Kombat Pack" wrapping. Boon came out quickly thereafter to say this wasn't true and speculations about the chainsaw-handed hero have been routinely squashed by both Boon and the star who played him, Bruce Campbell, but the clear statement from the voice actor makes that a somewhat hard pill to swallow. Though it was very much not offered to the community by Boon in the way the aforementioned teases were, one of MK11's voice actors stated on a live stream that Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise would be joining the game. We're not sure which parts of that wordy header are significant, but the 1984 date as well as Wes Craven's name both stand out as potentials.
MORTAL KOMBAT 11 KOMBAT PACK 3 MOVIE
He was sure to point out that Freddy Kreuger, a guest fighter who popped up in Mortal Kombat 9, was not the focus here and instead to pay attention to the title of the trailer he linked up: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Official Trailer - Wes Craven, Johnny Depp Horror Movie HD.
Just one day later Boon hit fans with a Nightmare on Elm Street-themed hint. Speculation of this hint has seen names like Nitara, Rain, Ermac, Reptile, and plenty of others tossed around with various accompanying reasonings, though most seem to hold the same amount of water at this point. The first of these popped up on September 18 in the form of a Queen-related hint instructing fans to "look up to the skies and see." It also included a Mortal Kombat ninja version of Queen's famous floating head sequence from Bohemian Rhapsody. Keeping right in step with this, the Director has come forward on social media with two major hints ("klues," as he calls them). We can start with what we do know, and that's that Boon has stated that more content is coming to MK11 and that he's all but promised information coming in September.
